Although reviews were mixed or negative, one man surprisingly came to its defense. Roger Ebert liked the film, giving it 3 out of 4 stars, and stated in his review that "although the plot may seem like a formulaic slasher film, P2 is in fact a very well made, atmospheric thriller with gritty yet realistic characters."
Its one of those horror movies if you read the description you might dismiss it but it's actually surprisingly good and fun fact it has the same producer as the hills have eyes remake. It's worth a watch.

Franck Khalfoun does a good job directing the movie by keeping it moving along at a brisk pace and intermixing the interaction between the characters with a few surprisingly vicious, eye-opening scenes. Bentley does a good job switching between the different facets of Thomas’ deranged personality .
Parents need to know that this is a gruesome thriller about sadistic captivity and male sexual obsession. Even with its tiny cast, it manages to squeeze in scenes of close-up mutilation and bloody savagery, thanks to murders of both people and a dog.
