First off, watch it. You need to give it more than few episodes. I just completed season two of Lodge 49. It is, in many ways, the most wonderful show I have ever seen. I have watched countless hours of television and movies. I haven’t seen a show this good since Breaking Bad or Fawlty Towers.
I watched Lodge 49 recently and it rocketed to the front of my favorite show list. What a gorgeous, humane, trippy yet grounded little adventure. I feel like it has more to say about modern life than nearly any other show out there, while also being interested in the mysterious and the eternal.
I don't know how similar they are, but since I also loved Lodge 49, I would recommend Resident Alien. It's a really good show.
