The Ridley Scott films beat life purely by their visuals and production design (seriously, watch them with the sound off or in a different language, and there's plenty to enjoy). All that said, there's a lot of positive comments for Life here, so I'm going to give it another chance.
Life was good in the sense that I found it entertaining, but it looked too polished and felt somewhat incomplete as a story. The alien design was a little disappointing; it suggested the creative team wanted to commit to a number of potentially interesting ideas that had come before without actually committing to them.

Absolutely! This was a surprising flick for me. I did not expect it to go like it did, and I found it very cool. The visuals are amazing, the acting is good, and the story is engaging. I would say it's well worth the watch.
It's not a bad movie, nor is it a good movie. It's an Okay Movie, one of the hundreds of films made yearly that makes its way to a Redbox, or a bargain Blu-ray bin.

From the premise that all extra-terrestrial life is harmful comes Life, a combination of “Alien,” “The Thing,” “Gravity,” “The Mummy” and a few other trapped-in-space or alien-assimilation movies that we all know and love (or tolerate in some cases).
