Honestly, apart from the direction (which is great), it's not a very good movie.
It's a really great erotic thriller that has elements of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (like the murder of the female lead early on in the movie) and of giallo movies (the killer using a straight razor as a murder weapon, the visuals, and the emphasis on sex and sexuality).

I saw "Dressed to Kill" when it first came out and thought it was fantastic. Actually rewatched it a few days ago. Taking in the account when it was made, it's still a good movie.
