Sep 7, 2019 · Movie Review: The Doorway to Hell (1930) WARNING: SPOILERS. There’s a good bit about halfway through this. Our lead, Louie Ricarno (Lew Ayres), who organized the Chicago gangs only to walk away from it all, is down in Florida, golfing and writing a book about his life.
Plot. Louie Lamarr, the “ Napoleon of the Underworld” according to the Chicago newspapers, is a young gang leader who is so successful and ruthless that he becomes the underworld boss of the entire city.

Doorway to Hell is a good late night movie to watch with a beer (if you drink) or a cup of hot cocoa along with a relaxing bowl of popcorn. The movie moves along at an okay pace, but let's face it -- it is not an action movie.
Synopsis. A vicious crime lord decides that he has had enough and much to the shock of his colleagues decides to give the business to his second in command and retire to Florida after marrying his moll. Unfortunately, he has no idea that she and the man are lovers. Cast. Crew.
