I heard that Carrell was a last minute replacement for Bruce Willis. I think he was trying to do some hollywood phony type thing, which would come across.. Flat. But he definitely can act in dramas. Foxcatcher and The Big Short he had some killer scenes that he really shined in.
Set in the 1930’s, Café Society centers on, Bobby (Jesse Eisenberg), a young man who arrives in Hollywood hoping to work in the film industry. Whilst there, he falls in love, and finds himself swept up in the vibrant café society that defined the spirit of the age.
