    Full spoilers for Iron Fist's seventh episode follow.

    This seventh episode was Iron Fist’s strongest one yet and it advanced the season’s plot in significant ways, even if it did repeat beats from Luke Cage’s own seventh episode in the process.

    Let’s start with the biggest thing first: Ward killed his father Harold Meachum. Oh, poor Ward. He thought he could escape the life (thanks to embezzling pension funds from Rand employees) but it was all just an illusion of choice concocted by his sinister dad. After finally seeing his dad at his most gruesome (hacking up the bodies of those Hand henchmen who Harold had killed at the beginning of the episode), Ward simply reached his breaking point, mentally and physically. (Also, the Meachum men really don't treat their hands well, do they?)

    There was a confidence to this seventh episode that had been missing from most of the preceding episodes of Iron Fist. Even though the death of Harold Meachum was repeating the same stuff from Luke Cage in a way, I’m glad to see one less Meachum in the mix now.
