   Ipswich JAFFA was founded in September 1977 and, in May 1978, organised its first fun run when 1500 turned up to run in Christchurch Park. The updated club history now reads: ‘The event was also significant in that it introduced David Smith to JAFFA and started an association lasting 44 years until he passed away in 2022.

   • In September 1995 a Special Meeting of the club agreed to change the name to Ipswich JAFFA Running Club as the club had largely moved on from its original jogging roots. In October, Brian Rogers in the MV40 added the county half marathon title at Felixstowe with a record which lasted 2 years and Carol Page won the LV50 category.
