To get 1 Story Key, you need to do 8 Daily Commissions and be at Adventure Rank 26. Since there are only 4 Commissions in a day, you will need a minimum of 2 days to get 1 Story Key.

Lyney’s Story Quest, also known as The Forgotten Thief quest, is all about mystery and magical tricks. The perfect adventure for Genshin Impact’s most famous magician, in other words. During this Lyney Story Quest, you’ll be solving an old mystery based in the Fontaine region.
To unlock Lyney’s Story Quest in Genshin Impact, you need to have an Adventure Rank of at least 40. You also need to complete Archon Quest Chapter 4, Act 2: As Light Rain Falls Without Reason.
Once you’ve met these requirements, you'll have to spend one Story Key to start playing Lyney’s Story Quest. You can obtain a Story Key by completing eight Daily Commissions.
To start Lyney's Story Quest, go to the Court of Fontaine and speak to Charlotte, who's waiting in one of the city's streets (above ground). Next, speak to Lyney, who’s standing on the nearby bridge.
Fast travel to Poisson (Belleau Region), and speak to Lynette. She’s waiting on a grassy hill, next to some graves. After a brief conversation, speak to the nearby NPCs. This will complete the first part of Lyney’s Story Quest.

To start the second part of Lyney’s Story Quest, wait until the next morning (set the in-game timer to 08:00). Fast travel back to the Court of Fontaine, where Lyney is waiting in front of Hotel Debord. After a brief conversation, enter the hotel and speak to Lorenzo. After leaving Hotel Debord, speak to Edmondo in front of the building.
Next, fast-travel to Marcotte Station in the northeast and approach the small pond. You’ll be attacked by four human enemies, but they’re quite easy to defeat. You can use Lyney as a trial character.
Fast travel to the Court of Fontaine again, and meet with Lynette in front of Café Lucerne. Next, visit Cesar’s Workshop in the southeastern part of the city. As the workshop is underground, use the underground Teleport Waypoint or go downstairs in the location shown below.
Enter the Cesar’s Workshop Quest Domain. The recommended Element is Pyro.
Follow the path until you reach a locked door guarded by two puppets. When the puppets jump up, hit them with a normal attack – this will lock them in place and open the door.
Defeat a small group of ordinary mek enemies inside the next room, then turn to the right.
Wait until the next evening (set the in-game timer to 18:00). Visit the Opera Epiclese and watch Lyney’s magic show. Afterwards, go upstairs and speak to Lynette and Jemma again. Then leave the opera house to watch the high-altitude escape trick outside.
Meet Lyney at the graveyard south of Poisson again. After the conversation, this part of the Lyney Story Quest is completed.

Wait until the next morning (set the in-game timer to 08:00). Visit the Steambird office in the Court of Fontaine and speak to Charlotte. Once the conversation is completed, Lyney's Story Quest is finished.
