Jun 1, 2014 · Director Wesley Ruggles’s immortal 1933 comedy stars the monumental Mae West at her peak in her third motion picture, playing Tira, a carnival performer romancing Jack Clayton (Cary Grant) as she sings five tunes, trains a lion (very impressive this) and gets off a murder rap.
I'm No Angel is a 1933 American pre-Code black comedy film directed by Wesley Ruggles, and starring Mae West and Cary Grant. West received sole story and screenplay credit. It is one of her films that was not subjected to heavy censorship.
For anybody who has never seen a Mae West comedy, especially her two prime comedies released 1933, I'M NO ANGEL should make a good introduction, and a suitable companion piece with SHE DONE HIM WRONG, both co-starring the only actor to appear opposite West on screen more than once.
