Coordinates: 18°44′06″S 26°57′18″E. Hwange National Park (formerly Wankie Game Reserve) is the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe. It is around 14,600 sq km in area. It lies in the northwest of the country, just off the main road between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls. The nearest town is Dete.
Location and Geography. Nestled in the western corner of Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park covers a colossal area of about 14,650 square kilometers. The park graces the edge of the Kalahari Desert, its geography a fusion of desert sand and sparse woodland.
