If you have open trigger finger release surgery, the surgeon will give you an injection of local anaesthetic into your hand. A small incision will be made at the base of the affected finger or thumb. The surgeon will carefully cut into the top of the tendon sheath to make it wider.

After surgery information. Elevate your hand in a sling whilst mobilising and on a pillow when sitting or in bed. Do not allow your hand to hang down by your side. Keep the dressing dry, try not to disturb the dressing until you have been advised to.
