Apr 18, 2023 · The file type is '.iso '. You have to transfer the file to a boot medium, usually an USB stick, or still a CD or DVD. Use a live image to install your favorite system, test Fedora on new hardware, troubleshoot, or share with friends.
- Live Image. Live images allow you to preview Fedora before installing it. Instead of booting directly into the installer, a live image loads the same environment you’ll get after installation.
- DVD Image. DVD images boot directly into the installation environment, and allow you to choose from a variety of packages that are provided with it. In Fedora 21, the DVD option is only available in the Fedora Server Edition.
- netinstall Image. The netinstall image boots directly into the installation environment, and uses the online Fedora package repositories as the installation source.
- ARM images. For many ARM systems, Fedora provides preconfigured filesystem images. Write the image to removable media and boot directly into a Fedora installation that’s ready to use.
May 5, 2024 · Download a Fedora image, choose a USB stick that does not contain any data you need, and connect it. Run Nautilus (Files), open the Overview by pressing the Start/Super key, type Files, and hit kbd:[Enter]. Find the downloaded image, right-click on it, go to Open With, and click Disk Image Writer.

The Fedora Project distributes Fedora in the form of ISO image files that you can download from the Internet. You can transfer, or burn, these ISO image files to a blank CD or DVD and then use this disc to install Fedora on a computer.
Each file available for download in a Fedora distribution includes the architecture type in the file name. For example, the file for the DVD distribution of Fedora 20 for x86_64 is named Fedora-20-x86_64-DVD.iso .
