Dr. Barry Barish (UC Berkeley, ’55), a recipient of the 2017 Nobel Prize in physics, has been awarded Sigma Alpha Mu’s 2019 Achievement Award. Fra Barish is the principal investigator at LIGO, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory, a collaborative project with over one thousand researchers from more than twenty countries.
