Alessandro is located on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, 9 miles (14.5 km) east of Riverside. [2] It lies at an elevation of 1535 feet (468 m). [1] The town was laid out in 1887 and named for the hero in the novel Ramona. [2]
