The Hippopotamus is a large, dark pink mammal with an opening mouth filled with tusks.
Hippopotamuses will attack the player if they go within 3 blocks of them or 5 blocks of their calves. They attack in a similar fashion to Ravagers by charging the player with their tusks. Hippopotamuses can often be seen in small herds with one or two calves following behind them.
Hippos spawn in groups of 3-4 above grass blocks at a light level of 9 or more in savanna biomes near or in sources of water. Spawn biomes can be edited with a data pack via adding or removing biomes from tags/worldgen/has_hippo.json in Naturalist’s data files.
Oct 22, 2024 · You can use any solid block (can’t use fences or glass panels as sheep get stuck), but you need a way for the grass to grow in the farm. Otherwise, the sheep don’t regrow their wool. Build an extra level around with grass blocks.
Shearing a sheep yields 1-3 blocks of wool instead of the usual 1 block you obtain from killing. This process can also be automated with dispensers. However, sheep must eat grass from grass block in order to regrow
Hippos don't eat other animals. They are however very dangerous, and making them tamable or even approachable wouldn't be a good idea with how many people live pretty close to hippos, or go on safari to get close.
