Oct 17, 2024 · Open Door Animal Sanctuary, founded in 1975, is the largest no-kill shelter in the greater St. Louis area and State of Missouri. We serve the community by taking in stray, abused, neglected and otherwise unwanted cats and dogs and placing them up for adoption.
Adopting a companion animal will be an ongoing expense. Our adoption fee includes an exam, microchip, spaying or neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick preventatives, and any necessary medications. We also do a heartworm test on dogs. Each adoption also includes 30 days of pet insurance.
We also manage an animal shelter for St. Louis City Animal Care and Control, prioritize the animals' welfare, reunite lost pets with their owners, and address issues related to irresponsible pet owners and dangerous animals to enhance public safety.
