Portugal's Algarve, known for its sunny climate, natural beauty, and serene lifestyle, has become a top European luxury property market. In recent decades, it has attracted discerning buyers worldwide.
Dec 1, 2021 · Algarve still topping property prices. The median value of bank valuation rose 10.6% in October, year-on-year, to €1,251 per square metre (m2), €15 more than in the previous month, according to the Institute National Statistics (INE).
There has been many cross currents this year. Some areas like Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo have seen an increase in transaction volume with an upward bias in property prices. In other areas of the Algarve prices remained stable to slightly lower.
According to statistics, the Algarve property market witnessed an 8% price adjustment over the past year. However, this followed significant increases of more than 35% from 2020 to 2022. One noticeable change has been the shift in buyer offers.
According to the price index published by the Portuguese real estate website Idealista, at the end of December 2021, buying a house in the Algarve cost the buyer €2,602 per square metre, a significant increase when compared to April last year .
