I suggested that I found out how to feed hippos in the wild, and that I would find the food, feed the last hippos in the river and, hopefully, save their lives. I did. I raised about 26,000 British pounds and with that money fed the last Turgwe hippos for ten months.
Hippos can store large quantities of food within their stomachs, which helps sustain them during periods when food is scarce. This storage capacity allows them to go without eating for several days or even weeks, depending on the availability of food resources.
