Many LED chips can actually last close to 100,000 hours if operated correctly. So it’s definitely true that LEDs have the capacity to last a very long time, but the other components that make the light work do not always have that same lifespan.
When LED bulbs last up to 50,000 hours, this means they last up to 25 times longer than halogen bulbs. LEDs last up to 10 times longer than other traditional bulbs. This includes fluorescent lighting, compact fluorescent light (CFL) and high-intensity discharge lights (HID).

- Your Dimmer Switches Aren't Made for LEDs. One big source of frustration among people in older homes who have switched to LED bulbs is how finicky LED bulbs are with dimmer switches.
Nov 19, 2016 · It's true that LEDs (short for Light-Emitting Diode) can last a very long time, but the circuitry inside of an LED bulb is way more complex than anything ever seen in a light bulb before--- especially with dimmable LED bulbs, which require even more circuitry.

Apr 30, 2024 · However, several factors influence how long LED lights last – including heat management, electrical stress, environmental conditions and more. Properly designed fixtures and setups that dissipate heat efficiently can extend the life of an LED bulb, so trusting top-rated lighting electricians is your best bet.
Dec 12, 2018 · How long LED lights last (also known as its lifespan) is generally based on manufacturers assumptions, and modest ones at that, about your day to day usage of lighting. For example, in the case of a 10-year lifespan LED bulb, it is usually based on you only using it three hours each day.
