- 'On average, an LED light will last around 50,000 hours before it needs to be replaced (much longer than traditional incandescent bulbs, which only have a lifespan of around 1,000 hours).' The primary reason for this difference is that LEDs are more efficient than traditional bulbs and generate less heat.

Feb 13, 2019 · I noticed that led bulbs tend to last longer if mounted in 'well-vented' fixtures. So if you have mostly enclosed where temperature can build up easly, that will surely shorten your bulbs lifespan. I can say the first couple of led bulb I bought at Ikea more then 8 years ago are still working fine.
- Dubious dimming components. LED light bulbs are dimmable, with two caveats: They have to say they are dimmable on the package. This indicates that they were specifically built to be dimming-capable.
- High voltage. If you find yourself burning through multiple light bulbs throughout your home in the span of months, or you notice the bulbs burning more brightly than they should, the mains to your house might be too high.
- Bad connections. Bad connections can affect the amount of voltage a light bulb will receive, which can wear it out prematurely. There are a couple of possibilities that could be causing bad connections in a light fixture
- Overheating. Unlike incandescent light bulbs, LEDs don’t produce light using heat. This is part of what makes them so energy efficient. The downside is that their components can be sensitive to overheating, which can cause them to burn out prematurely.

- First: LEDs Don't Actually "Burn Out" Before we dig into reasons why your LED bulbs aren't making it to that fabled 50,000-hour mark---let alone the 500-hour mark---let's clear up what we mean by "burn out."
- You Bought Cheap Bulbs. Even if you buy really cheap incandescent light bulbs, you're not sacrificing much in terms of reliability. After over a century, the technology of basic incandescent bulbs is pretty well dialed in.
- Your LED Bulbs Overheated. Electronics hate heat, and the little circuit boards inside your LED bulbs are no exception. Aside from the issue we just talked about---cheap components failing prematurely---heat is the number one killer of LED bulbs.
- Your Dimmer Switches Aren't Made for LEDs. One big source of frustration among people in older homes who have switched to LED bulbs is how finicky LED bulbs are with dimmer switches.
Aug 14, 2024 · How long should LED light bulbs last before burning out? Typically, LED light bulbs are designed to last between 15,000 to 50,000 hours before burning out. Their longevity depends on usage conditions and the quality of the bulb.
When LED bulbs last up to 50,000 hours, this means they last up to 25 times longer than halogen bulbs. LEDs last up to 10 times longer than other traditional bulbs. This includes fluorescent lighting, compact fluorescent light (CFL) and high-intensity discharge lights (HID).

Nov 19, 2016 · It's true that LEDs (short for Light-Emitting Diode) can last a very long time, but the circuitry inside of an LED bulb is way more complex than anything ever seen in a light bulb before--- especially with dimmable LED bulbs, which require even more circuitry.
