The systematic literature review conducted on the implementation of the K to 12 program in the Philippines uncovered a unanimous agreement among researchers regarding the favorable outcomes of pedagogical shifts towards competency-based learning.

Anchored on John Kingdon’s multiple streams analysis, this study analysed the dynamics of the educational shift by specifically looking into the streams of problem, policies, and politics.

Findings of Ednave, R., et. al., (2018) stated that the implementation of the K to 12 programs presented the following challenges: a) lack of preparation and professional development; b) excessive academic burden on students; and c) integration of lessons in the real-life context.
The changes that these curricular policies intend to achieve are shaped by the teachers who are at the forefront of its implementation. Using a phenomenological approach, this study investigates how five Filipino teachers implement these policies in their classrooms.

Sep 3, 2021 · This study critically examines the K-12 curriculum reform in the Philippines and suggests ways on how it can move forward. Specifically, three recent curriculum guides (i.e., science, mathematics, and English) were analysed to determine how they fit with the Education 4.0 milieu.
