A wide-ranging survey reveals finance professionals’ key role in the continent’s development. Around 123,000 of Africa’s 1.3 billion population – 0.012% – are qualified accountants. Yet this tiny proportion has an outsized ability to influence the economic future of the continent.
This research is aimed at addressing two research questions namely, how has or how will 4IR technology affect the work of accountants in Africa? and what needs to be done for African accountants to remain relevant in the 4IR era (key competencies required for an African accountant to remain relevant)?
