Jun 13, 2024 · The 22nd Annual World Series of Poker saw the first-ever million-dollar top prize in the WSOP Main Event. A mammoth 18 events – an increase of three from the previous year – heralded the biggest-ever WSOP, and the title was taken by another new name as Brad Daugherty followed up on his first bracelet event victory in 1989 by finally adding the title of World Champion to his resume.
Main Event. There were 215 entrants to the main event. Each paid $10,000 to enter the tournament, with the top 36 players finishing in the money. This was the first Main Event to offer a top prize of $1,000,000.
