Mail Privacy Protection hides your IP address so senders can’t link it to your other online activity or determine your exact location. It also prevents senders from seeing if you’ve opened the email they sent you. Go to Settings > Apps > Mail. Tap Privacy Protection, then turn on Protect Mail Activity.
- Use Custom Email Domains with iCloud Mail. Your iCloud email address is no secret. It's easy for hackers to find or guess email addresses to begin cracking passwords and accessing accounts, especially when most iCloud email addresses end in @icloud.com and many people use a variation of their name.
- Use iCloud Aliases. With an iCloud email account, you can create email aliases and stop giving your primary email address out to everyone and everything, isolating unwanted messages and spam from important communications.
- Use Mail Privacy Protection. New to iPhone in iOS 15, Mail Privacy Protection helps protect your data by preventing marketers (or malicious actors) from obtaining specific information about you.
- Encrypt Emails with S/MIME. Unlike Android, iOS has the built-in option to encrypt emails with the Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) protocol.

- Send and receive signed and encrypted emails
Email messages that are digitally signed or encrypted can offer enhanced security. You can send or receive signed and encrypted email in the Mail app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
A digital signature verifies the authenticity of an email. In other words, it proves that the email was sent from the address it claims to be sent from and that its contents haven’t been altered. When a message is signed, a signed icon is shown next to the sender’s address.
Encryption offers an even higher level of security than a digital signature. It allows for private communication between the sender and the recipient that can’t be read or accessed by third parties. When an email is encrypted, a lock is shown next to the sender’s address.
Note: Some email clients, including the iCloud.com web mail app, may not be able to display encrypted emails.
