- Open Device Manager. To do so, right-click on the Start button and then click Device Manager.
- In the Device Manager, expand Network Adapters to see all network adapters, including the wireless adapter. The Wi-Fi adapter usually has the term “wireless” in its entry.
- Visit wireless adapter’s official website or your PC manufacturer’s website, and download the right Wi-Fi driver. We repeat, make sure that you have downloaded the right wireless adapter driver.
- In the Device Manager, right-click on the wireless adapter entry, and click Uninstall device option. In older versions of Windows 10 (build 10240), you will see only Uninstall instead of Uninstall device option.
- Check the wireless signal. Check the wireless button or key to confirm the wireless signal is on. Locate the wireless key or button. This could be an image of an airplane or a wireless signal .
- Update hardware drivers. Use Device Manager to update hardware drivers such as the graphics, audio, wireless, or other drivers for your computer. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
- Use wireless troubleshooting tools. Use automatic tools to test and fix a variety of wireless conditions. If one tool does not resolve the issue, use another one.
- Reset the wireless router, gateway, or modem. Reset the wireless network hardware. Turn off your computer. Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router, gateway, combined modem/router, or broadband modem.

An out-of-date or corrupted wireless driver could prevent you from connecting your PC to the Internet. If the wireless driver is the culprit, reinstalling it will get you back online in minutes. First, download the latest version of the driver using a wired Internet connection. At that point you can safely remove the current driver in the Device Manager, allowing you to do a clean installation.

Return to the Device Manager and expand the “Network Adapters” list.
Now you’ll prepare to remove the current driver.
Right-click the wireless card under “Network Adapters” and then click “Properties”.
Navigate to the “Driver” tab, then click “Uninstall.”
A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm your choice.
The entry for the wireless card will now disappear from the “Network Adapters” list.
Double-click the .exe file you downloaded.
This should launch the setup program that will install your wireless drivers.
If the file ends with “.zip” instead of “.exe”, right-click the file and select

- Open the Adapter Settings page. There should be a few different options inside the left-hand pane of the Control Panel window. Click “Change adapter settings,” and a new window should open.
- Find the correct adapter. There may be a few different options depending on a few different things. The option that you're looking for should be shown as “Wi-Fi.” In Windows 7 and earlier, the “Wi-Fi” adapter may appear in this list as “Wireless Network Connection.” The process for disabling and enabling is the same, regardless of which device is being used, as long as the operating system is Windows 7 and up.
