Oct 16, 2022 · If your Kwikset SmartCode 913 is not working properly (won’t lock/unlock, the keypad not responding, etc.), start your troubleshooting by inspecting the batteries. The battery polarities may have reversed, causing the lock to stop working.
Make sure the Mastercode has not already been programmed. Attempt the procedure again, making sure to enter the same new Mastercode in step 2 and 4. Make sure switch #3 is on, and press the Program button once. If you hear three beeps and see the keypad flash green, the Mastercode is enabled.
