Membership Requirements. Candidates for membership must be sponsored by three Grosse Pointe Yacht Club members and attend a reception to meet the GPYC Board of Directors. Usually gpyc gets you reciprocity at other yacht clubs in the country as opposed to every country club. I worked there for many years and can give you some pretty unbiased info if you require more. Ccd has a better overall f&b program, but may cost slightly more than gpyc - I’m not sure after the most recent due raise.

Kensington and Stony Creek metroparks have "beaches" with cleaner water than Lake St Clair and they're both within reasonable driving time for a day trip to the beach. Unlike the Grosse Pointe residents-only parks, they're open to anyone but do require the purchase of daily or annual passes for entry.
