Just as a person has a particular way of expressing themselves, we have our own way of talking and writing as a movement. This is what we call our tone of voice. It captures our character, personality and it’s unique to us. These are words we use to describe it:
Here’s an example of our tone of voice in practice: As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life. we encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more.

Mar 28, 2023 · A new brand and visual identity for the Scouts goes live today, focusing on skills for life as our key benefit. As well as making it easier to talk about Scouting, we are introducing a new logo, colour palette, free brand font and tone of voice.
- Talk about skills for life. Let’s help people understand why we do what we do. So update your website and social media with a short description – talking about skills for life: ‘Scouts prepares young people with skills for life – helping them speak up and play their part.
- Download your local logo. Register or log into the Scouts brand centre. Once logged, in, you’ll find your new personalised logo waiting for you on all your templates.
- Order your new sign. You can create and order a new sign in the new brand in minutes. It’s available in different sizes, all nation colours and with a choice of delivery options.
- Write more like you speak. How we talk makes a big difference to the way people feel about us. Talking in a more natural way, using real examples, will make people want to listen.
The Brand Centre's an online hub available to all adult volunteers that's bursting with templates, logos, artwork and guidelines for Scouts communications. You’ll find all sorts of ready-made flyers, posters, social media assets that can be personalised to create local recruitment campaigns and promote events.
To register for an account and gain access to the Scout brand centre you will need to have a valid email address. It would also be useful to provide your Scout membership number if you have one. 1.
