  2. Here's what I do. Get a digital copy of the book, (after googling the quote, you can generally find the name of the book an author pretty easily) and then search the ebook/PDF for the text. You'll easily find the page where the left comes from.

  3. Try it outside quotation marks. Choose fairly unusual keywords to search. Put in or leave out the name of the person you suspect to have said it. If the person it's attributed to wrote or spoke in another language from the one the quotation is in, consider that translations can vary.

  4. Cite the ebook version, and then you can just cite the chapter and/or section (as ebooks do not have definite page numbers). Or, download the PDF version and use the find feature to locate the page number.
