If you want to change or reset the password you use to sign in to Windows, you have different options. This article outlines the different approaches you can take, whether you’re using a Microsoft account or a local account, logged in or at the sign-in screen.
- Change a Known Password
From the Password security tile, select Change my password....
- Change a Known Password
- Click on the Start Menu.
- Open "Settings".
- Then click on "Accounts".
- In the left hand pane you now want the option labelled "Sign-in options".
From the Password security tile, select Change my password. On the Change your password page, enter your current password and then enter your new password. For additional security, select the optional checkbox which prompts you to update your password every 72 days.
