Quincy, M.E. (also called Quincy) is an American mystery medical drama television series from Universal Studios that was broadcast on NBC from October 3, 1976, to May 11, 1983. Jack Klugman starred in the title role as a Los Angeles County medical examiner who routinely engages in police investigations.
Aug 28, 2023 · Unlike traditional detective dramas where a hardened police detective would solve crimes through interrogation and instinct, “Quincy M.E.” turned this trope on its head. Instead of a police detective, we got Dr Quincy, a medical examiner played by the talented Jack Klugman.
Quincy’s first name was never spoken during the entire series. The only clue appeared in episode #33 when his business card was briefly seen. It read “Doctor R. Quincy.”
In "Accomplice to Murder", the name on Quincy's business card reads 'R. Quincy', but his first name is never revealed. Throughout the series, he is frequently addressed as Dr. Quincy.
