The history of Quality Street® all began when John and Violet Mackintosh set up a sweet shop in Halifax, West Yorkshire, in 1890. Following the success of their best selling toffee, John, otherwise known as the 'Toffee King', set up the world's first toffee factory in Halifax.
Quality Street is a 1937 American historical comedy film made by RKO Radio Pictures. [1] [2] It was directed by George Stevens and produced by Pandro S. Berman. Set in 19th-century England, the film stars Katharine Hepburn and Franchot Tone. Joan Fontaine makes one of her early (uncredited) film appearances.
