Before that he was Ibuka's junior partner. Morita reached the peak of his career in 1993, at the age of 72, when he was picked to be the chairman of Keidanren. Tragically, on the same day the announcement was made, Morita suffered a serious stroke while playing tennis. He retired from Sony for health reasons in 1994.
