The Cloak Invisible is a Cloak of Invisibility To Fathers. Harald is Erik's father, so Erik becomes invisible to him, and him only, the same way Aud becomes invisible to her father. Aud is the same Aud from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
So what I think what happened is that Erik became a spitball, an open loop in season 5 before they truly set on the spinoff. Then decided they couldn't possibly get Erik and Ivar meet. And then decided to discard his character, which explains why his story felt so rushed and unsatisfying.
When Erik, convinced he's wearing a cloak that's made him invisible (of course it only works on the father of the girl he'd just slept with), essentially starts prancing around in front of a bunch of big tough guys wearing a towel on his head.
Erik holds up the Cloak Invisible and grins round at his men, knowing he is going to surprise them. ERIK Here! Here is the magic from the King's daughter! Erik's men watch, half sceptical and half hopeful. Erik enjoys the moment of suspense. The he throws the Cloak Invisible over his head and shoulders and grins
There was a scene where we find out about Ingrid’s past. Erik was an outlaw and one of the reasons for that was selling slaves. One of the slaves he did sell was Ingrid which he forgot about but obviously she didn’t.
