You can refer yourself directly to an NHS talking therapies service without a referral from a GP, or a GP can refer you. Help is available in person, by video, over the phone or as an online course. There are also simple steps you can take to look after your mental health.
Guided self-help. Your GP may suggest trying guided self-help to see if it can help with your depression. You'll usually have 6 to 8 sessions where you work through a workbook or online course, with support from a therapist. The sessions may be in person, by phone or online.
