Coordinates: 36°02′54″N 138°05′03″E. Lake Suwa (諏訪湖, Suwa-ko) is a lake in the Kiso Mountains, in the central region of Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Geography. The lake is the source of the Tenryū River. It ranks 24th in lake water surface area in Japan. The cities of Suwa and Okaya and the town of Shimosuwa are located on the shores of Lake Suwa.
(check out the video). Near to the center is a footbath (free) called "Kohan Koen Ashi-yu," where you can immerse your feet in the Kami-Suwa-onsen Hot Spring waters and relieve the weariness of your travels while viewing Lake Suwa-ko and the mountains of the Northern Alps.

Aug 4, 2021 · Lake Suwa, located in the center of Nagano Prefecture, is the largest lake in Shinshu with a circumference of about 16 km. The lakeside is rich in nature and is well maintained, so you can enjoy strolling or jogging while looking at the beautiful nature.

Jun 1, 2016 · Lake Suwa is a 10 mins walk from the JR station. It is essentially an onsen town. We took a walk by the Lake and spotted the Lake Suwa-ko Geyser Center where you can enjoy the sight of a dynamic geyser and the "Nanatsu-gama," or the spot where seven hot springs gush.

Lake Suwa is 2.5 hrs by train or car northwest of Tokyo. It is very easy to get to by train on the Chuo Line from Tokyo since there aren’t any transfers required. The lake is large and takes about 30 min to drive around by car.
We visited Lake Suwa in the summer, but it is popular year-round with seasonal attractions. To truly enjoy your visit, we recommend spending at least 2 days and 1 night there. The range of activities includes visiting the notable Suwa Shrines, seeing towering geysers, tasting sake, and watching fireworks at night.

We stayed at Hotel Suhakuduring our visit to Lake Suwa. The hotel had a nice hot spring facility on the top floor, but the best part is we could view the fireworks directly from our room.
