Welcome to Haddam Island State Park, a hidden gem tucked away in the picturesque town of Haddam, Connecticut. This 14-acre undeveloped and preserved park is a nature preserve, boasting breathtaking scenic beauty that will leave you in awe.
By 1819, the island was listed as 18 acres (7.3 ha) in area and was expected to increase in size following the construction of a pier 90 rods north of the island, which caused the accumulation of sand at the head of the island. [6] The island is currently listed as 14 acres (5.7 ha) in size. [7]
Inaugurated in 1944 with a gift of 154 acres from the Hazen Foundation, this park features a pretty meadow dotted with picnic tables, and offers seasonal swimming and fishing in the Connecticut River.
