Cougar Town season 1 was a disaster with stereotypical stock characters and unbelievable dialogues. Did not laugh at all for the entire duration of the season. Courtney Cox tried and failed.

Episodes 1-5 are pretty bad, 6- end of season 1 improve to okay, season two is pretty good. It's Scrubs comedy with more grounding (no JD monologue, etc.)
Basically after the first season, the show creators wanted to change things up. The cast was good, the interactions between them good, just the general idea of the show didn't work out as planned. They went as far as even wanting to change the name of the show, but ABC would not allow them to.
The vast majority of episodes, excluding the pilot and "Everything Man", are titled after songs by Tom Petty, who is from Florida. During the course of the series, 102 episodes of Cougar Town aired over six seasons, between September 23, 2009, and March 31, 2015.
