The epitome of the type of nondescript place you might pass by without thinking you'd need to stop in. Frequent guests of this 34-year-old pub on the exit on the "divide" from I-70 west and I-65 south swear by the loaded potato soup called the "Hot Pot Pig" and the desserts — specifically Ralph's coconut cream pie.
There's nothing special about this Fletcher Place dive, and that's what makes it so special. Regulars mingle with neighborhood newcomers testing local watering holes with nothing but a goal for the same: Having a few pints of a cheap domestic and enjoying a conversation or a sports game of some sort. Oh, and the food? Surprisingly good.
This pizza pubis open until 3 a.m. and tends to serve industry folk, but you should trust the operators: They know what they're doing. Pearl Street has an impressive tap list and interesting pies like pear and Gorgonzola and honey chicken. It's tucked in the alleyway running perpendicular between South Meridian and South Pennsylvania streets that y...
In the literal shadow of Lucas Oil Stadium (it's 500 feet away), this buildinghas been a bar of some sort for most of its 142-year-old existence — except for a 19-year stint as a drug store in the early part of the 1900s, partially during that whole Prohibition thing. Now, it's a great place to hang out before or after a Colts game with a local cra...
There's nothing frilly about this dive filled with regulars. Even though it's pretty close to the the dance-club/20s bar district of South Meridian Street, the Whistle Stop is a time capsule of a watering-hole-in-a-movie stereotype, and that's a good thing. It's dark during the daytime, the bartenders are friendly and they have $1 beer specials.
The chances of you passing by this place are getting greater as Georgia Street's activity calendar begins to swell, but it's still not likely you'll just stumble on this teeny tiny locally roasted and blended coffee counter. If you can get past the vision of neighboring Hooters looming over Georgia Street Grind, the stop inside will be worth it. (B...
Um, hi cheap (delicious!) tacos you didn't know existed. You probably did know this placeexisted, but just didn't know you should stop in because, well, it's connected to a gas station. You should. With $1.25 tacos on Wednesdays, giant portions and even a little bodega, this is worth the stop.
We're really not sure what sorcery fifth-generation co-owner Tony Cento performs on our nasty scuffed, love-worn shoes to repair them, and we really don't care. They'll come back with fixes you didn't know were possible and looking better than they did when you bought them. You can even get your newly repaired shoes delivered to your office if you ...
Yes, you have to be a member of this club, but if you go enough, you'll earn your $150 annual membership back in $2 Coors Banquet pints daily and $2 surprise craft pints on Thursdays, or you can order your own "manly house beer" off the club's lengthy beer list. Plus, you can smoke inside the club if that's your thing. And it's basically like being...
