tl;dr: This is an exceptionally well-done series that I would recommend to anyone looking for an intense generational story to binge. I don't know if it comes up on other viewers' recommendations, but recently Netflix released a series out of Denmark called "Herrens Veje."
Herrens veje, or Ride Upon the Storm (Netflix is using its Danish title), is a family drama. As Netflix describes it: "A family with a storied history of service to the Church of Denmark fractures under the tyrannical rule and ambition of its hard-driving patriarch."
