The movie explores themes of survivor's guilt, trauma, and cultural isolation. It really captured the juxtaposition between the real-life horrors of war-torn Sudan, the supernatural horrors they find in England, and the loneliness of trying to assimilate to an unfamiliar culture which treats them with barely concealed hostility.
