Dec 12, 2023 · As pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in downtown New Orleans, he was the catalyst for starting three outreach ministries that still serve marginalized people in the city that he loved: Café Reconcile, Good Shepherd Nativity School and what is now The Harry Tompson Center.
In 1996, Rev. Harry Tompson, S.J., joined with concerned community members Craig Cuccia and Tim Falcon to address the system of neglect, violence, and generational poverty that had plagued out-of-school youth in New Orleans’ troubled Central City neighborhood.
Our History. With the help and dedication of parishioners and friends, Father Harry Tompson, S.J., opened the Parish Center next door to the Immaculate Conception rectory on Baronne Street in downtown New Orleans in 1999.
Every day, we provide shelter, showers, medical care, and housing assistance for those experiencing homelessness in New Orleans because when we join people in rebuilding their lives, it rebuilds our community.
