Oct 12, 2012 · It reminds me a bit of an anecdote Savides tells in Alexander Ballinger’s great book, New Cinematographers, where Savides explained that during the shoot of The Yards, a James Gray film, the scenes would be lit so darkly that his light meter often didn’t get any reading at all.
