Harold L. Richards High School is a co-ed Public high school located in Oak Lawn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and is a member of Illinois school District 218. The school opened in 1965, named for District Superintendent Dr. Harold Leland Richards who served in that capacity for 33 years from 1935-1968.

Richards High School opened in 1965. Named for former Superintendent Dr. Harold L. Richards, who served the district in that capacity from 1935 to 1968. From 1942 until the end of WWII, Reserve Officer Major Richards served in the U.S. Army.
For the Harold L. Richards Class of 1969 to reconnect as we lead up to our 50-year high school reunion.
We will celebrate our graduates during Black History Month in this manner annually. We're extremely proud to highlight Sam Jones, who graduated from Shepard High School in 1996. Today Sam works as the Coordinator for Player Development for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA.
