It was a great movie with a lot of depth to the story and characters. Something that really frustrated me tho is that Nishimiya and Ishida didn’t officially get together. I know that romance isn’t the central theme of the movie but I think both of them deserve some affection from each other.
Did Shouko and Ishida end up together? I just watched the movie, and at one point Shouko says to Ishida that she loves him. However, he misinterprets it at her saying “moon”. After that, it really wasn’t brought up in the movie if he grew romantic feelings toward her.
The ending hinted that they're most likely gonna get together in the future, but nothing specific. The final panel is them holding hands, and supporting each other, as they enter a convention center containing all the people that used to torment them, back in middle school.
