Oct 11, 2007 · Trained first as a physical education instructor in England, she later studied Greek dance and BALLET. In 1927 she opened her own dance school in Leeds. In 1938, with former student Betty FARRALLY, Lloyd immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg.
Gweneth Lloyd, OC (September 15, 1901 - January 1, 1993) [1] was a co-founder of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, a ballet teacher and choreographer. Lloyd was born in Eccles, Lancashire, United Kingdom. She attended The Perse School in Cambridge, but began taking dance when she attended Northwood College.
Gweneth Lloyd and Betty Farrally arrived in Canada from England in 1938 with a solid foundation in the RAD syllabus. Lloyd had completed a diploma in physical education at Liverpool College.
Choreographer and dance producer. Born at Eccles, England on 15 September 1901, daughter of Joseph Charles William Lloyd and Winnifred Mary Stace, she came to Canada in 1938 with Betty Farrally. They founded the Canadian School of Ballet and the Winnipeg Ballet Club in 1939.
