Guy Martin à Beckett Boyd (1923-1988), sculptor and potter, was born on 12 June 1923 at Murrumbeena, Melbourne, third child of William Merric Boyd, potter, and his wife Doris Lucy Eleanor Bloomfield, née Gough, a painter.

Guy Martin à Beckett Boyd was an Australian potter and figurative sculptor noted for his ability to represent sensuality in the female nude with fluid forms. He was also active in environmental and other causes, including protesting against the damming of the Franklin River and advocating the innocence of Lindy Chamberlain.
Sculptor Guy Boyd, a member of the prodigiously fruitful Boyd family of artists, died of a heart attack on Tuesday, at the age of 64.
Boyd's wife, Yvonne Boyd (née Lennie) is also a painter; as are their children Jamie, Polly, and Lucy. In 1993, Arthur and Yvonne Boyd gave family properties comprising 1,100 hectares (2,700 acres) at Bundanon on the Shoalhaven River to the people of Australia.
The bulk of this series comprises black and white photographs of the sculptures of Guy Boyd, together with proof sheets and a small number of negatives. There are also photographs of Guy Boyd with his works and of African dancers, possibly used as the inspiration for some of his pieces.
Sculptor and designer of ceramics, Guy Boyd was the third child of the studio potter Merric Boyd and his wife Doris Gough, and was born at Murrumbeena, where his parents established their studio pottery. His career developed in the shadow of that of his siblings, especially his brother Arthur.
