At age 24, he made his first feature-length documentary, Island of Roses, The Jews of Rhodes, in Los Angeles. He taught undergraduate and graduate film classes at UCLA School of Theater Film and Television Occidental College and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Helix is part of the Grossmont Union High School District, and serves a mid-level socioeconomic community. It has a student body of approximately 2,400 pupils.

Grossmont Union High School District formed (1920) and building opened in 1922 1921: The La Mesa Country Club, formerly located on the hill south of SR-94 and east of SR-125 in Spring Valley, opens as 9-hole dirt golf course. It would be expanded to 18 holes in 1928.
