Leucojum ‘Gravetye Giant’ is a paticularly lovely snowflake, bearing dark green leaves and wide white flowers with green markings. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM). Grow Leucojum ‘Gravetye Giant’ in moist soil in sun to partial shade.

A bulbous perennial to 30cm in height, with strap-shaped glossy dark green leaves and erect stems with 1 or 2 broadly bell-shaped, green-tipped white flowers 2.5cm in width.
The two species of Leucojum have been described as "tough garden plants for damp soils". Both grow well in gardens in western Europe, with sufficient rainfall so that the soil does not dry out completely in summer. L. aestivum, the summer snowflake, grows particularly well on clay soils.
Leucojum aestivum, although called ‘Summer Snowflake’, flowers in mid-spring and then goes dormant during summer. It features 4 to 8 white, nodding, bell-shaped flowers with green-tipped tepals, dangling from each long, fairly sturdy flower stem.
